The True North Momentum Approach

Built to Develop People, Not Just Performance

True North Momentum is a developmental ecosystem built on a simple belief: meaningful change begins internally before it is ever expressed externally.

Where It All Began

The Story Behind the System

"For years, I believed recruiting was my calling. Today, I believe I was only seeing part of the picture. The calling was helping people become more than they believed they could be."

— Scott, Founder — True North Momentum

A little over twenty years ago, I stepped into my first role as a recruiter for a travel healthcare staffing company. From the very beginning, I always felt like it was more than a job. Over the years, I referred to it as a calling more times than I can count because it gave me a sense of purpose I couldn't fully explain.

The healthcare professionals I worked with weren't simply looking for someone who could find them a job. They were looking for someone they could trust — someone who would tell them the truth, help them navigate uncertainty, and guide them through major life decisions. Over time, I realized my role wasn't about helping people find jobs. It was about helping people gain clarity.

Five days after starting my recruiting career, I became a father. My daughter, Adilee, was born and instantly changed my world. Less than three years later, my son, Zach, arrived. As Zach grew older and became involved in sports, I naturally found my way into coaching. What I discovered was that the part of coaching I loved most had very little to do with the sport itself.

Whether I was recruiting healthcare professionals, coaching young athletes, leading teams, or helping friends navigate difficult situations, the role I naturally gravitated toward was always the same. I was coaching — helping people understand themselves, identify obstacles, gain perspective, build confidence, and move toward something better.

I know what it feels like to struggle with confidence. I know what it feels like to feel stuck while simultaneously being afraid to move because the future isn't completely clear. Some of the most important lessons of my life came during periods when I had no certainty at all. The breakthrough came because I moved before I had the answers. That realization eventually became the foundation of everything that would become True North Momentum.

What Is True North Momentum?

A Developmental Ecosystem, Not a Program

True North Momentum was built on a different assumption: the qualities most people desire are rarely developed by pursuing them directly. Confidence is not built by trying to be confident. Leadership is not developed by deciding to become a leader. These qualities emerge as the byproduct of a deeper developmental process.

The issue was rarely a lack of talent, intelligence, opportunity, or potential. The issue was activation. People often knew what they wanted. Many even knew what they needed to do. What they struggled with was creating consistent forward movement despite fear, uncertainty, doubt, or discomfort.

TNM cannot be neatly categorized into a single box. It is not simply an athletic development program, a fitness program, or leadership training. It is best understood as a developmental ecosystem framework designed to help people become more capable versions of themselves — one that addresses what exists underneath all of those things.

Every person is capable of far more than they currently believe. The problem is not potential. The problem is activation.

AIM: The Internal Performance Engine

The Engine That Drives Lasting Transformation

At the heart of True North Momentum is the AIM Framework — the internal engine that drives lasting personal transformation. While many approaches focus primarily on motivation, goals, or external achievement, AIM recognizes that sustainable growth occurs through a continual process of internal growth, external activation, and continuous forward movement.

Internal Growth

Ascension

The process of developing greater awareness, perspective, and understanding. Through Ascension, individuals begin recognizing the beliefs, assumptions, identities, habits, and forms of internal resistance that shape their decisions. Ascension is not the destination — it is the beginning.

External Activation

Ignition

Awareness alone does not create change. Ignition is the point at which understanding becomes action — the willingness to move despite uncertainty, discomfort, or fear. Confidence is more often the result of action than its prerequisite. Capability remains stored potential until it is expressed through movement.

Continuous Forward Movement

Momentum

As purposeful actions are repeated consistently over time, they become habits. Habits begin shaping identity, allowing meaningful growth to become increasingly sustainable. Momentum is not perfection — it is the willingness to continually return to purposeful action after setbacks, distraction, or adversity.

Although these components can be studied individually, they are never experienced in isolation. Greater awareness produces more intentional action. Purposeful action creates sustained momentum. Sustained momentum generates deeper awareness — beginning the cycle again from a higher level of personal development. AIM is best understood not as a linear process, but as a lifelong operating system for continual growth.

How TNM Works

The Process, the Practice, the Environment, the Impact

AIM is the core developmental process. Everything else within TNM flows from it — two environments where that process is practiced, a broader environment that surrounds and shapes the individual, and a theory that explains why any of it ultimately matters.

The Process

AIM

Ascension, Ignition, and Momentum form the core developmental process — the explanation of how individual growth actually occurs. It is not a program to complete. It is a lifelong operating system that reappears every time growth is required.

The Application

DRIVE and FORGE are the primary environments through which the AIM process is practiced and reinforced. They are not separate programs — they are complementary expressions of the same developmental process applied in different contexts.

Drive

Physical development and challenge. Physical training is not simply a method for improving health — it is an environment where character is tested and refined in real time. Every session presents opportunities to confront discomfort, frustration, and self-imposed limitations. Drive is where AIM becomes practice.

Forge

Leadership, responsibility, relationships, and influence. Personal growth achieves its greatest significance when it extends beyond the individual. Forge develops the qualities required to lead within families, teams, organizations, and communities — not through authority, but through the consistent willingness to positively influence the people and environments entrusted to our care.

The Environment

Elevate

Elevate is the broader environment surrounding the individual — family, teammates, coaches, coworkers, organizations, and community. It can either support or inhibit growth. Lasting growth rarely occurs in isolation. And as individuals develop through AIM, they become increasingly capable of intentionally ELEVATING the environments around them.

The Impact

Ripple Theory

The AIM Framework explains how personal growth occurs. The Ripple Theory explains why it matters. As people develop through AIM, practice that growth through Drive and Forge, and begin influencing Elevate, their growth extends outward — into the people and environments around them. Personal growth is never truly personal.

The Ripple Theory

Personal Growth Is Never Truly Personal

As individuals develop through AIM, practice that growth through Drive and Forge, and begin influencing Elevate, their growth extends outward — into the people and environments around them. Personal growth is never truly personal. It is the beginning of something much larger.
